Porthallow
There were no foghorns to disturb my sleep last night but I got up later than intended, I waited for the light to change forgetting that the clocks had moved forward so it was nearly 7 o'clock before I started moving.

It looked like it was going to be a reasonable day but by the time I got away at 08.25 the mist had come in.

The coastline to Nare Point
From Porthallow it was back on the coast path, not a clifftop walk as the land sloped down to the sea now.

At Nare Point I met Ottie out walking her dog, she had visited Orkney 20 years ago for a friends wedding in Twatt Church, a name she is unlikely to forget she told me.

Gillan
I continued round the coast to Gillan, from here the Coast Path goes round to Helford where you have to get the ferry across the river which meant I had to take the long way round.

It would be all road walking to the other side so I should be able to make better time.

Helford River at Gweek
The mist had all but gone but it was still cloudy with a southwest wind, not bad walking weather.

It was all minor roads but my route seemed to take in all the steep hills. I crossed over Helford River at Gweek at 12.25 where I was able to pick up supplies for the day.

Durgan
I stayed inland quite a bit as the river had some large creeks on it.

Coming round the end of one at Polwheveral I met Sue, I had my head down about to tackle another steep climb but was persuaded to stop and admire the view of the creek.

After a few minutes of pleasant conversation I continued, eventually getting down to the river at Durgan.

Maenporth
I was back on the Coast Path now and on the lookout for a suitable wild camp pitch as there were campsites near by.

I had hoped to find one round Rosemullion Head but didn't so I pressed on.

Looking back to Maenporth
On the path past Maenporth I stopped to speak to Brian & John and got a £7 donation.

Just a bit further on I spotted a newly planted plantation over the hedge, it was on a slope but it was 5 o'clock so it would have to do.

21 miles and not too tiring but my elbow is painful, I must have sprained it pushing too hard on my walking poles.
