Coasting Round Britain

30th March 2013 to 12th July 2014
Pwllheli to Aberystwyth (37)
3255 out of 5630 miles completed

Log No 212. Sun 12th Jan 2014 - Borth to Aberystwyth, 6 miles (3255 miles walked)

The coastline from Borth
Today was only going to be a short 6 miles to Aberystwyth so I was in no hurry to get up.

It was the coldest night I'd had for a long while with a touch of frost inside the camper and out.

I had plenty of time to drive over to Aberystwyth and find a free parking spot before getting the 11.10 bus back to Borth.

It was a grey day with no prospect of any sun and a lot colder than yesterday.

The route was all a cliff top footpath starting with a climb straight out from Borth.

There were a few descents and ascents but it was a good footpath and nothing too strenuous.

I took it fairly steady and enjoyed the views and I even met another walker coming the other way.

Looking to Aberystwyth
Dropping down to Clarach Bay the whole valley, as far as I could see, was full of chalets and caravans.

Going through the campsite a well made path went up the hill with plenty of resting places and there was a good view of Aberystwyth.

The Cliff Railway & Aberystwyth
I hadn't been paying much attention to the map as the route was so easy so I was surprised to see a building at the top of the hill.

The map said it was a Camera Obscura and the only way to get to it was to walk up the hill or use the short Cliff Railway.

Coming down into Aberystwyth the promenade was very busy with lots of workmen repairing and tidying up after last week's storm.

I got back to the camper for 14.00.

Today was a foretaste of the next few days route so I should enjoy this, I just hope the weather forecast on my phone isn't accurate as it is predicting 3 days of rain.
